The YMCA stands for the Youth Men Christian Association’s. There are a variety of different YMCA’s and each individual YMCA is unique, offering different programs to accommodate the citizens of specific demographic regions. Teamwork is a major part in the success of the organization. Through every program offered, including even the cleaning of the floors, YMCA promotes teamwork among all members to create a fun and safe environment for the public to enjoy.
The Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) employs 49,000 staff members. All the works of the BGCA work together as one, forming multiple smaller groups to help raise young boys and girls with the correct morals, values, and ethics. This organizations amazing teamwork helps keep today’s youth out of trouble. Both of these organizations thrive on teamwork to accomplish their business goals. YMCA and BGCA are two prime examples of how teamwork is an efficient way to run an organization.
What Activities or Attributes of the Company Create the State of Cohesiveness with Which the Company Currently Operates?
The YMCA seems to have created a very cohesive work relationship among their staff. As in any large company, this may not be the case at every individual organization, however as a whole this organization is known to have a quite cohesive team. Many factors have helped to create the cohesiveness which has allowed the YMCA to be so successful in their mission of helping children.
While there are many small factors that may be untraceable which are responsible for creating cohesiveness in an organization, there are also some larger factors which are highly noticeable. One large activity that can clearly be accredited with helping create the cohesive environment for the YMCA is the participative of individual organizations in the annual Corporate Cup. In this event many of the associations’ sponsors will challenge one another in various competitive events in Olympic-style games. This event helps the association create cohesiveness amongst their members by competing as teams. This activity helps individuals build a relationship with their corporate sponsors. The YMCA seems to be quite a successful organization and is one that is long-standing as well. While many factors make an organization successful, team cohesiveness is a very essential element, one which attributes to their great achievement.
Another organization similar to the YMCA in their mission, as well as in their cohesive focus, is the BGCA. Along with the similarities of their missions, the ability of their cohesiveness to be traced to many small factors as well as a few large events is also congruent. While the BGCA does not sponsor competitive events like the YMCAs Corporate Cup, they have many programs that are centered around their adolescent members to build cohesiveness with these youth. Through these educational programs, the YMCA is able to create stability among their young members, as well as build relationships amongst professional members. These program areas include a focus on issues such as character and leadership, education and career, and health and life skills.
A few particular programs within these areas which are conducive to team cohesiveness are Goals for Graduation, which is a program that provides information and opportunities to help adolescence be best prepared to graduate on time. This program not only creates cohesiveness within the organization but promotes a sense of unity for young children as a base to build upon for their adult lives. Both of these organizations have many programs or activities which they implement in an attempt to create a high level of unification to allow their organization to be as successful as possible.
